My Treasure

Where is your treasure? What do you treasure?  What are you living for? What’s most important to you?  (Where is your heart?) Mathew 6:19-21, “Don’t store up treasure here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Where your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”

* “If you follow ___________, then all your other choices will follow that”

* “Why do you do the things you do?”

-To the degree that we see the beauty that God is, we will gladly sacrifice to love and serve him.

            – Right now, live to be helpful (to God). We have all of eternity to be happy.

            – When you see the True beauty in God, you will his heart.

*Worship = Words of encouragement

*God has all 5 love languages!

*The only way you can discover what you treasure is by facing a choice of this or that.

This: Loving Jesus, loving others, suffering, serving others

That: earthly possessions, position or power, comfort, family and culture, family ties, closeness with family.

*“Let the dead burry the dead”

These are our notes from lecture today. I really don’t know how to transfer my notes into a story. The one thing God really has been speaking to me about for almost a month now is “Let the dead burry the dead.” I treasure family; therefore it was difficult for me to finally give God everything, including my values for family.

One Response to My Treasure

    Dear Moriah,

Learning to give it all to God is an on going process. We think that we have laid it all on the line and then God will show us an area that we held back or had not thought to give to him yet. Family relationships are just one of the first things we struggle with. But you are about to learn….to give it to God. God will keep what you give to Him. Then God shares with you….But we can not really keep anything in our own strength. Think about it. I can not make one hair black or white. I can not heal my child of an illness. It is all up to God. But He does a good job of it. I recommend Him on the ability to take care of and keep anything you give Him. I have found out that He likes to share and you will find that He will share with you most things you give Him. Oh, he does not share cigarettes! When someone gives something like that. He will be happy to take it and then does not share again. But He might give something else in it’s place better!

    love Mom
